Retinal detachment surgery
The outcome of retinal detachment surgery in people with Wagner has been very poor. A lot of eyes went blind after rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. In 2007 a study was published about the success rate of retinal detachment surgery in people with Stickler. We are only assuming that this might apply for Wagner’s too.
Clinicians from the Western Eye Hospital (Moorfields) compared this kind of surgery in two periods: 1965-1985 and 1986-2003, and found a great improvement.

Refractory glaucoma after vitreous surgery
Clinicians from Ghent (Belgium) and Rotterdam (the Netherlands) published an article about managing uncontrolled intraocular pressure after vitreous surgery with a Baerveldt glaucoma implant. They mention 20% failure, 20% transient complications and 20% severe complications.

From Moorfields also an article about this issue. Bill Aylward and others found that 19-28% of the eyes after vitreoretinal surgery suffered from uncontrolled intraocular pressure.
